Description

Our fifth release of this cuvée, the 2020 vintage is a co-fermentation of Cabernet Franc and Syrah from the Sierra Foothills (Nevada County).

The geology of our region is yet to be precisely mapped. However, as far as we can tell, this particular vineyard is located on the same “geological oddity” as our own vineyards, meaning that its soil resulted from sub-oceanic volcanic activity, rather than the underground granitic/metamorphic cooling off of magma  (for more information, look up ‘The Smartsville Complex’).

It is a medium bodied, fragrant wine, with bright flavors, refined texture, and a solid backbone.  It has a good aging potential (15-25 years), although, similarly to other members of our “blue” family of wines, it’s very accessible and inviting from right now.
