2021 Carte Blanche

The 2021 vintage of our Carte Blanche is a field blend of Albarino and Sauvignon, organically grown on the hills east of Grass Valley, on decomposed granite clay soils.

A co-fermentation of 65% Albarino and 35% Verdelho, it was 100% foot-stomped and fermented on its skins/stems in an open-top fermenter, exactly as we make our reds. It is generous and has good acidity and concentration.

Continuing in our recent tradition, we allowed a small amount of lees to get into the bottle, giving the wine a little extra protection and enhancing its aging potential thanks to the reductive quality of the lees.

Alcohol: 12.5%         Total SO2: 35 mg/l added at crush, 35 mg/l added at bottling.
