Syrah 50%, Merlot 25%, Cab Franc 19%, Zinfandel 6%.
Ten years after we stopped farming the section of the Renaissance Vineyard that used to produce this cuvée, we stumbled across another nearby vineyard (about four miles away) with a similar combination of grape varieties, soil composition, and altitude. We decided to check it out!
The Terroir: Red clay (aka decomposed granite), 1800′ altitude, South-West exposure. Vines planted in 1990.
The Wine: Medium-dark color. Medium body. Expansive and lively on the nose, bright, pure, and very harmonious on the palate, this truly elegant wine is especially friendly and accessible, yet, like all of our Syrah-based wines, it has the potential to age for few decades in a good cellar.
Alcohol: 12.9%. .
Production: 128 cases.
