The Texas Hill Road Vineyard is a one-acre Pinot Noir vineyard located a couple of miles east of our Home Vineyard, on the old road leading from Oregon House to Dobbins. At 1700 ft elevation, it has an eastern exposure, and the soil is red clay (a.k.a. “decomposed granite”). We have thus far made only three vintages of this wine – in 2005, 2006, and 2011. It often appears more rustic and powerful in its youth than our “Home Vineyard”, but it ages equally well, displaying, in time, great complexity and harmonious texture.

The 2011 Texas Hill Rd. Pinot Noir is light-medium bodied, with pure, bright aromas, lively acidity, and a long, spicy finish. This vintage is by far the most elegant vintage we made of this vineyard, with its structure perfectly civilized and well-behaved…
