Description

Ancient-vine Cinsault 50%, Ancient-vine Carignan 50%

The Cinsault component here is from vines planted in the 1880s. The Carignan was planted right next door by the same people, some 15 years later.

“Minimal-intervention” Vinification: All the grapes were foot-stomped in open top fermenters and aged in “neutral” oak barrels. No inoculations, acid corrections, additions, fining/filtration.

This is a delightful example of a true Ancient-vine blend: super-bright and pure aromatically, lively, finely detailed, and simply irresistible. Since this is the first (and only) time we made this wine, we do not know how long it will age. In view of the fact that the young wine is so accessible and enjoyable right now, our recommendation is to consume it over the next few years. Bottled on March 27, 2015.

Alcohol: 13.2%       Total Production: 173 cases
